relatively new club in nyc (open since ? october 2008). i heard it's under the same (or related) management that operates the sapphire las vegas club. supposedly to add a restaurant and eventually a hotel to the club in the future. first visit a few weeks ago. area is far west of downtown manhattan, but the neighborhood wasn't unsafe or sketchy. i took the subway and bus to get there. arrived at around 10p. there was no cover when i got there. no idea if there was cover later in the night, or if they'll start charging that down the line. there's a coat check up front, then it leads to the main area. full bar is to the right, a few seats to the left. then a stage with a pole towards the back, as well as more couches with sort of a roped off area. some private rooms in a separate area in back. some of the club info needs updating: there's no byob, no indoor smoking, no nude (only topless) dancing on stage. i bought a few grey goose drinks which set me back 15 bucks a pop (ran up a pretty hefty bar tab). anyhow, i was one of the first customers to arrive. so i had some drinks and chatted up the dancers. there's a good mix of dancers, all ethnicities, and generally very attractive. i found most of them to be very friendly and willing to sit and talk for a bit, rather than continuously hustle for dances, which is a big plus in my book. dancers on stage for 3 songs, last 1 or 2 topless. standard 20 lap dances (topless if i remember correctly) in the back area with moderate, decent contact. there's private rooms available. i tried one out, and found the prices to be a bit too much. for half hour, $150 to club, $300 to dancer, and supposedly you have to buy a bottle (? cost). they let me just buy a pair of drinks (guess it was still early). had a good time, but felt it was overpriced. they let you use credit card for this, and didn't charge sales tax (always a good thing). later in the night it got to be pretty busy. as standard in manhattan, club was open until at least 4am. overall, a pretty good time. spent a lot of money, but wouldn't expect less in manhattan. i liked the dancer attitudes (at least on this visit). i'll likely be back.
