Checked out Cheeks on a Saturday...
Checked out Cheeks on a Saturday night recently. The first thing that struck me was that they had a couple of security guys out in the parking lot. Later in the evening I went across the street to Wise Guys and the same guys were there with the addition of a uniformed off duty cop. I don't know if this is a regular thing or they only do it on the weekends, but with the notoriously bad neighborhood, it certainly was noticed and welcomed. Great move by management since both places can easily be patrolled by the same people.
As for the club itself, the outside is a non-descript windowless building. Whatever. Cover? None. Kinda nice to walk into a club at 11pm on Saturday night and have the door man simply tell you to enjoy enjoy yourself. As for drinks, I typically drink beer when I'm out. I ordered a draft and was given a big ass mug (32oz?) for $7. Not what I intended but I think I think they serve all of their drafts like that. They also had the obligatory bottles and mixed drinks but didn't order any or inquire about prices. Nevertheless, it was nice to get a drink at a strip club that would cost about the same at any other bar. I came with the intention of spending some money but they were making it difficult for me. Probably all around the highest value rating of any club I've been to in awhile.
The inside was clean and spacious. One main stage which was getting all the action and a smaller side stage which was going unused do to the lack of customers. They also had a shower in the rear. One of the dancers I inquired about it said that she hadn't seen it been used but she had only been working for a few days. Had a pool table on the opposite side of the bar from the seating area. Only about 3-4 customers when I was there and six dancers. 5 black and one white and ranged from 4-8. One black spinner that I would've liked to talk but some guy had her occuppied during my short stay.
