It had been several years since I'd been here. Somehow, getting off the highway and crossing the North Hartford desert of auto dealers and porn shops never inspired. But the club is actually easy to find, and though somewhat isolated, seems to be reasonably safely situated -- always a consideration in this vile city. Inside, the layout is spacious and upscale-looking. The food is actually better than good. Perhaps management should consider throwing some clothes on their girls and running the joint strictly as a restaurant. As a strip club, it's decidedly mediocre.

First of all, don't be misled by the eye candy on the Gold Club's web site, all of which was ripped off from various men's magazines and web sites. While there were a couple of model-quality (and generally unavailable) girls on hand, the majority were pretty much across the range of what one generally expects, with too much emphasis on cellulite and wild hair. PDs on the topless side were perfunctory, with decent, but impersonal one-way contact. I didn't partake on the nude side, where the prices go up, along with the tobacco stench. And bottom line -- the club just doesn't seem very friendly. I don't think it's that I wasn't a regular; no one there appeared to actually be having a good time.
