Shady Lady Disapppoints
Club layout and details are at the end of this review, as not everyone likes to read through them, but many think they should be included in every review. So, putting them at the end seems like a good compromise, but I know that you can’t please everyone all the time.
I stopped in to the Shady Lady on a Tuesday about 900 pm. I had been here about 5 years ago and had a good, but not great time. So I thought I would give it another try this time through Salina. Tuesday night is not the optimum time to go to a club, though, and this was a disappointing visit.
I entered the club, paid my $5.00 cover and was verbally greeted by two dancers who were playing pool. I figured that this was a good start. But, to offset that, there was no one dancing on stage. There were a half dozen dancers at the bar, all typical midwest American girls with a variety of shapes and sizes, tending towards rather thin with small breasts. There was one light skinned hispanic. When I was here five years ago, there were several African American dancers, but nothing this time The dancers were all engaged in conversation with other dancers or what I surmised to be their regulars. Not a good vibe. Beer was $4. The regulars seemed to all be blue collar workers, and many were on a first name basis with at least some of the dancers.
The dancers at the bar did not seem easily approachable, but after 15 minutes the two dancers who had greeted me earlier, Melissa and Jenny, came over. We chatted for a bit while they tried to sell me a dance with the two of them. In my experience doing a double usually isn’t worth the money, so I declined, Jenny then left, but Melissa stayed a bit and I had two private dances from her. She quoted $30 a dance, but agreed to two for $50. There are dedicated private dance booths with adequate room. They are curtained off on one side, which is toward the club, but there is a wall between the booths and the club, offering some privacy. The dances were nothing to write home about, light touching and grinding, and I could play with her breasts, but she clearly indicated that anything else was off limits, She said that there were cameras. She did offer the more private VIP room at $300 for a half hour, but seeing how much I got for my money with the private dances, I declined. No sense chasing good money after bad.
All this time, there were no dancers on stage. Finally, after 45 minutes, two dancers took to the stage and proceeded to clean and wipe down the pole, and the floor. This eventually led to the two of them pretending to play with each other. The girl-on-girl playing turned out to be a big attraction to the regulars at the bar, several of whom sat at the stage and tipped. They got a bit of a close up show, but nothing too revealing from what I could tell. After they got off the stage, there were no other dancers on stage.
Midwest strip clubs located in smaller towns can be hit or miss, and this was definitely a miss. Perhaps things are better on the weekend, but I would not recommend this place during the week unless you have nothing else to do. It certainly is not a destination club.
Now for club details. There is adequate and free gravel parking . This being cattle country, you may catch a whiff of a feedlot when you exit your car, but there is no smell inside the club. You pay the $5.00 cover to the cashier in a booth as you enter the club. Inside, there is an area with a pool table on one side and a bar on the far side. The bar serves hard liquor and beer, both at modest prices. The bartender was friendly. Most of the club is a sunken area with a stage in the center. The club is not too dark, but not brightly lit either. Private dances are $30 a dance and VIP dances are $300 for half hour(?). There are private dance booths with curtains on one side behind a wall that offers some privacy. There are larger VIP rooms, but I have not had a dance there. The club has an outside smoking area, and that may be a good place to talk to dancers. But when it is cold, dancers don’t linger. This is a blue collar regulars bar, which can be good or bad. It appears to be safe. There is a pool table and the dancers like to play pool. During private dances, they do not play so much.
