I visited the Play House on...
I visited the Play House on a Monday evening after well over two years' absence. It had been one of my favorite clubs 3-4 years ago, but had deteriorated severely. The reviews seemed to indicate that it had been restored to its former excellence: they were partially right.
The loud whining, complaining, and other obnoxious dancer and staff behavior that marked my last visit have disappeared. While the atmosphere isn't as friendly as it was in the club's heyday, it now at least meets the minimum requirements for a decent club. Even though there was only one waitress on duty, the drink service was prompt and courteous. One negative: they now sell cigars, and don't have a nonsmoking area. Fortunately, no one indulged while I was there.
Mileage is, if anything, better than it was before the Great Decline. The barriers in the lap dance area (new since my last visit, though others have mentioned them) may allow the dancers more latitude. Full 2-way contact and an occasional stroke appear to be standard; you may do better. Last December's raid on the nearby Landing Strip doesn't seem to have affected the Play House's lappers.
