This was my second attempt to visit the Golden Horseshoe. The first time was a few months ago and it was closed, with no signs or explanations. I’m glad I came back. This is a big, attractive, comfortable club, with one main stage and two smaller ones. There’s also a pool table and other games in a backroom. Most of the girls are attractive too. Of the six I saw, five were in the 8-9 range, and the sixth was a contortionist, which made up for her plain looks. And the price of beer (under $3) more than makes up for the $5 cover.

But despite all these advantages, the place was surprisingly dead. Maybe its because I was there early (around 8:00), but it seemed odd that on a Friday night, the dancers outnumbered the customers. Considering how close the place is to the Maryland and Virginia borders (both states have pretty restrictive laws), a great club like the Horseshoe should draw from a wide area. I’m hoping it was just a slow night.
