On Wednesday night I stopped into the Dolphin II Gentlemen’s Club in Beaverton. I have been a customer there off and on for a few years. On this night I decided to sit at the bar. A dark haired female bartender who had not served me before approached and I ordered a Black Label scotch on the rocks. I watched her pour my drink as I usually do to make sure I got Black label and not some other brand.
When she brought the drink I handed her a $10 dollar bill assuming the drink would be about $8.00. She said, $2.00 more sir, your drink is $12.00. I was a little shocked but I took back the $10 dollar bill and gave her a $20 and resolved that this would be my last visit to the Dolphin. When she returned with my $8 change I asked her if I could please have a receipt. She seemed reluctant and flustered that I wanted a receipt but I told her I needed it for my expense account. It took awhile but she eventually came back and gave me the receipt. It was too dark for me to read it so I put it in my wallet planning to check it out later. Not interested in spending another $12 for an ounce of scotch I finished my drink and went to Stars Cabaret where I paid $7.50 each for two more Black Label rocks.
I didn’t get around to looking at the receipt until the next day. The receipt showed accurately that I paid $12, gave her a $20 bill and got back $8 in change. However the receipt didn’t show a Black Label, which I received, but rather a more expensive 12-year-old Dewars. I then telephoned the club and spoke with the manager on duty. I asked him to tell me the price on a shot of Black Label. After checking the computer he told me it should be $9.75. (Still too much but a lot better than $12 dollars.) I told him about the overcharge and he apologized and said he would “take care of itâ€.
