I very much enjoyed my time here at this all-African-American club. It's in a warehouse area in a marginal area near the north side of the airport. I wasn't sure I'd be welcome when I got there, but I was sober and the night wasn't too old yet, so I braved it. The guys at the door were a bit dismissive, and they did pat me down and run me through a metal detector. I actually like a bit of (excess?) security at the door, keeps out the riff-raff. Of course, it doesn't make me any safer from one of the "in" fellows who bypassed security because he owned the place, so I felt a little trepidation anyway.

But when I got inside, the counter staff was very friendly, and I found all the clientele to really be quite enjoyable. They were nearly all dark-skinned as well, unlike myself, and some went out of their way to make me feel a bit more at home. It was like they wanted me to know that they were "cool" with me, and that they were having a grrrreat time. Even in the men's room, people were laughing very hard at the disgusting mess someone else had left. Oh well, at least they got a sense a humor.

The tipping of the girls on stage was fun and funny, and there wasn't the boisterous annoyance of Platinum Plus where I'd just been. Guys were laughing, and you could talk to the girls, who all seemed to be above-average in conversational skills. The guys at an all-white crowded club all are displaying some kind of desperate attention-performance about making a lot of noise and making their friends look stupid. Here, there wasn't as much aggro (aggravation OR aggression) and I really felt "chilled." Part of that, probably, was the fact that each client was already really confident in his own masculinity, and going to a strip club wasn't for him an act of desperation -- the "only" way he could see naked women. Instead, it was a normal capper to an evening of light-hearted (and less alcoholic) enjoyment -- one of MANY ways he could involve himself in a positive experience of a man's life. I liked that. Wished I'd been part of it longer.
