This was my first visit to a DC area club. I was there from about 10:00 to 11:30 pm. There were 18 dancers working 3 stages in 3 song sets. I got a great laugh when I took a seat near the first stage and the sign says, “Don’t touch the dancers. Tip and sit down.” What a welcome. Good Guys has 3 small stages about 30” high that are quite small, maybe 5 feet by 6 feet with a mirror against the wall on each back side. There is no center pole, rather poles at each corner and a cross bar between them. The stages are not set up for people to sit and tip right at the stage. Rather, they have tables up against them on each side and are open in the front. Dancers receive tips at the stage, but also make rounds to club patrons at the tables nearby for additional tips.

There was no cover, but the drinks were outrageous. A couple small sodas totaled $15.50. I’m afraid to guess how much for a beer.

The DJ was super laid back and simply announced the dancers between 3 song sets. The rest of the time, he was pretty quiet and the atmosphere in general was just like a cool neighborhood bar. Not too formal nor a redneck dive.

The girls were reasonably good looking, but none that were extraordinarily memorable. I would rate them from 6 to 9, with average probably around 7. Notable was that they would often strip to nude on the first song and sometimes the bottom first. Also, when they transitioned between sets to the next girl, the dancer finishing up would actually put her clothes back on in the last minutes of her last song. I’m not sure if it was because of the heat of DC, the small stages or what, but I didn’t see any performances that were really all that great. The dancers really lacked energy and routine, which took away from even the hottest ones.

So If I were in DC again, I might drop by, but I would probably try some other places first, as my overall first experience was sort of average. It was fun, but not exactly captivating like I’m used to out in Portland, Oregon.
