With apologies to anyone arguing for the King of Diamonds, the most popular strip club in the Twin Cities area (though not the best) is Deja Vu in Minneapolis. Away but not too far removed from the nightclub district, it's huge and easily accessible from the major highways. I remember there was a lot of hubbub when it opened more than a decade ago, but the guess is it quickly became the go-to place if you want to go to a titty bar. And it still gets its share of flak from time to time; in a similar incident to what happened at the University of Colorado, the University of Minnesota found out some of its football recruits spent a night here escorted by members of the team.
Thing is, why is it so popular? Well, OK, it's an alcohol-free full-nude bar, and so horny guys enjoying their eighteenth birthdays will flock to the Vu and come back from time to time because they don't know any better. I was the same way too. But either it got worse as the years wore on or it was never that good in the first place. My last visit only confirmed my thoughts.
Again, it's difficult to miss DV. I can't think of any two-story clubs as large as this. There's a small parking lot behind the club that's usually packed and a larger lot to its right that opens onto the main strip, Washington Ave., but what many people don't know is that you can sometimes find meter parking a block away on the other side of Washington Ave. $16 cover and heavily-watered down pop.
