I always liked the idea of having the club up a flight of stairs - it leaves me thinking that the club owner strategically decided to put a flight of stairs between the front door and the action so that if the gendarmes burst in folks upstairs will have just enough time to strike an innocent pose before Chief Wiggam and his deputies huff and puff up the stairs. Lots of neon inside, and typical California strip mall architecture (pun intended) outside. I have always been a big fan of strip clubs that take over old restaurants or light commercial spaces - there is something a little bit sterile about going into a strip club that could be reincarnated as a Men's Warehouse without very much exterior work. This is a no alcohol club, which has its positives because the customers don't get nearly as rowdy, and the obnoxious drunks who turn up at some clubs find somewhere else to go than Imperial. If you enjoy a little buzz with your naked ladies, you'll need to have a drink before you get there.

There are pretty consistently 25 or so girls working most of the time, heavily weighted toward the 5-7 range, with the occasional 8 to 8-1/2 joining in, but if you want the best of the group you will probably have to approach them because the best ones get snapped up pretty quickly. The recent spike in lap dance prices from $10 to $20 was disappointing but not unexpected. Girls are nude onstage but bikini in the VIP. Periodic two for one laps in the main room let you get in a test drive before you make a serious investment. Spending some time on the main floor making the right selection and telling the girl about the time you had a very very friendly girl in the VIP and that you tipped accordingly always pays big milage dividends.

Chances are you will go home happy, but if you mission wasn't successful, the DVDs are on sale at $5 a pop, and Palmela's always home waiting....
