Five of us arrived at the Cecil around 12:30 on Friday night. Cover was $7 each and the place was packed. I saw a booth with a "Reserved" sign on it and questioned a bouncer about it, given that the club closed in 90 minutes but he insisted the booth was reserved. We walked a circuit and found no place to sit until we got back near the main door and another group left their table, right in front of the "reserved" booth. We took a seat, waited for a waitress and checked ou the action on stage. A dancer, around a 7, had brought two girls out of the audience, around 8s, onto the stage and was removing their clothes against little feigned resistance. Then the same bouncer told us it would be $40 to keep sitting at the table and slapped a "Reserved" sign on it. I told him there was nowhere else in the club to sit, he said it was club policy on the weekend and I told him we'd just take our covers back. Fortunately he didn't argue that point and we left about five minutes after we arrived. One point for the show on stage and one point for giving us back our covers without any argument, but that policy will keep me away for quite a while and if I do go back it won't be during prime time.
