Returned to the Hi-Liter on Monday...
Returned to the Hi-Liter on Monday at lunchtime for the first time in a few years. I walked through the tiny lobby, right past the unoccupied window where you're supposed to pay the cover (there used to be no cover until 5 or 6 pm, and I sort of assumed that to still be the case). Everything looked pretty much the same, except for the addition of some TVs and a doorman who showed me to a table and then stood there with his hand out (gee... what's the appropriate tip for walking me 30 feet from the door to a table?... I'm thinking... $0).
The place was pretty crowded, as usual, even on a Monday, even at lunchtime. About half full -- that's maybe 40 customers. There were 6 or 7 ladies giving table dances, and as always, most of them were fairly pretty, slender, and generally hot. One black, one probably Latina, the rest basically Iowa-farm-girl types.
A waitress arrived within two minutes and took my drink order, then returned within two more with my drinks (two for one). She offered food, too, but I declined. It was friendly, good service. When the song ended, three dancers approached me, one after another, offering me a dance. In each case I said not just yet, but please come back soon. After the next song, same thing with two more dancers.
