I decided recently to give Rick's another shot. As I said in my last review, it is something of a second choice for the two different types of clubs I like in New York. More than anything, if I happen to be in a hotel that is closer to Rick's than Flashdancers, I'll usually give Rick's a shot.
I got in early in the evening. I don't know what time the cover starts, but there was no cover and no charge for the coat check this time around. I tipped the door girl a couple of bucks and headed in to find that there were quite a few girls sitting around and not too many customers scattered around. They were only using the high stage in the back (or maybe it is the frint.)
I sat near the stage and enjoyed the show. One of the things I don't like about Rick's is that the stage is very high, making it hard to tip if you're sitting right at the stage, which I like to do. However, stage tiping doesn't seem to be a very big thing at Rick's. There is very little in the way of stageside mileage, in part because of the high stage. I even tipped a gorgeous black girl very liberally, hoping for some private dances afterwards. She just bolted when her set was done. That was a shame too, because she was really hot. She probably saved me some money though.
