Visited the Gold Club just before...

Visited the Gold Club just before 4 PM on a Friday afternoon to see a couple of dancers I knew from otherwhere. There was no one on the door, but I left a tip anyway. (I don't understand NC admission "rules" of which, allegedly, there are some. Some places just charge admission/cover; some demand you "join"; some are as easy to enter as a supermarket.) It is a plush place with small tables surrounded by comfortable overstuffed chairs on the main floor. There is a stage, pool table, swing, and bar. There were four dancers, all reasonably attractive but mostly inactive. The manager/bartender/bouncer is tall, attractive, braless, mid-30s. She asked once if I wanted a drink. I replied in the negative, and was left alone.

I got a couple of laps, upstairs, from one of my familiars. The VIP area is open, and as well appointed, leather couches vice chairs, as the main floor. The dances are $30 and absolutely hands off. We went back downstairs and I chatted with both girls for about an hour. The music volume was quite acceptable and their sodas are free. I tipped them for their time and when they left the other two dancers pirouetted on the stage for a couple of minutes. After I tipped them a couple of bucks one came over and talked. I asked if she was making a living; both my acquaintances were depressed at their lack of income. She said, yes, but added she'd had only one dance so far. She said there were "lots" of customers at mid-day, but they came for the "free" lunch, not the laps.

I left a little after five. This is the core of the biggest day of the week for them. There were two guys drinking at the bar and moi! Methinks they may have taken the "Do Not Touch" thing past the point of no return. It's really a shame because this is a nice facility with attractive women and soft music. My friend said it was meant to be a fantasy experience. I really doubt that sells all that well in today's culture.
