I had hopes for Castaway because...

I had hopes for Castaway because it is located about 15 minute from where I live in Western Mass. Alas, I was disappointed. I visited on Sat. night Jan. 10 about 11pm. The place is small and not all that bad inside, but laid out oddly and a bit claustrophobic. The stage is below eye level and the ladies have to do bizarre acrobatics to show patrons their stuff. The night I visited - it could be better another night - there were no beauties at all, just some rather energetic but second rate women who I felt a bit sorry for. I didn't stay long, and my overall impression was: drive a bit further to Mardi Gras in Springfield and you will have a lot more fun and see some real beauties. This would be the end of my review if I did not have another experience that is relevant to report. When I came to the bar I had to drive around a Whately local cop car that had stopped a patron. When I left, I drove down Rt 5-10 the 1/2 mile or so to the Interstate 91 entrance; lo and beyond, blue lights. I was stopped and given a $190 ticket for 54 in a 40mph zone. (I went back the next day to take a closer look; the signs say 45 mph on the I91-to-Castaway side but not on the other side, where, yes, there is a tiny zone of 40mph. This jerk of a cop was laying in wait for Castaway customers who could not possibly know that.) This is a genuine speed trap. I would leave this part of the story out and not let it predjudice my reaction to the club if it were not for my distinct impression that the Town of Whately, not one of Mass. most prosperous communities, has targeted Castaway customers with a speed trap either because they don't like the club or just to make a little money. So be forwarned or else add $190 to the cover charge of $6. Overall a bad experience.
