I travel to Chicago regularly and visit VIP’s often. I understand the reasons behind some of the negative reviews of this club. However, I have had a great time there on many occasions.

Let’s start with the details. VIP’s is in the city. It is a very short cab ride from the loop or Michigan Avenue. You can take the “L” there if you like but I’m not sure about the walk. I certainly wouldn’t do it in the dark. Cover is $8 but you can almost always print a coupon for free admission at their web site. VIP’s has a full bar – drinks typically run about $6. This is not an after work club. Although I have never been there at 5:00 I have been there at 7:30 and the place was dead. Not only a shortage of customers but, more importantly, a shortage of dancers. They run two shifts 4:00 and 9:00. Generally speaking, the 9:00 shift has the more attractive girls. They have to be on the floor by 9:00 and some don’t get there until 8:55. The majority of them start trickling in around 8:00 or so.

Stage dances run two songs – the first fully clothed, the second topless. The main stage has two poles, which get worked very inconsistently. There are two side stages. The feature dancer is directed to side stages on only the busiest nights. I understand this is more common on the weekends.
