On the final night of the Jazz Festival with thousands of people crowding the streets outside, Club Cleo was fairly dead. This club became a favorite during a previous visit, though it couldn't have been more different this round. I arrived at the club, tipped the tuxedoed bouncer the customary toonie, and sat down. Waitress service was good, though the dancers followed the peculiar custom of dancing for a song, leaving the stage to change, then returning for a second song. I'm guessing a shortage of talent meant no continuous eye candy, which made for a rather dull experience.
I watched the clock over the bar as various dancers got on and off the stage. A number of dancers hung out at the bar or simply played video games. After waiting close to an hour, a brunette named Amy finally approached me about a dance. She was dressed in a skimpy top and a Borat-style strap thong (though she looked considerably better wearing it!). A lovely dix-a-danse grope session followed. No grinding, which is typical on the island, but fun nonetheless.
While I'm used to visiting clubs with serious hustle, I've never understood clubs that go in the complete opposite direction. I certainly was dressed appropriately, and I had a pocket full of cash! Normally this is the best place on the Ste. Catherine strip for a $10 grope session. This time it just took too long to have the experience!
