OK, I took the risk and visited Passions. I had a good time. It wasn't really a risk at all. I was there on a weekday from 10:30 pm to 1 am, roughly. It's on Downman Road (first road East of the Industrial Canal) just lake-side of Chef Menteur (aka Gentilly Road). If you take the Interstate-10 eastbound from the FQ / CBD, then BE CAREFUL on the Downman exit, it's a killer. Go as slow as the "Exit 25 mph" sign says. Downman is West along Chef from the Chef exit off I-10.
The best thing about Passions place is "the vibe" -- everyone who is in there, the girls and the customers and the staff, all are acting like things are "fun" and upbeat. It's like they're at a comedy club, they seem so happy about life. That's wonderful. I had worried that my pasty-white-ness (I am short, mildly plump, balding, and irremediably Caucasian in appearance!) might make me embarrassed or unwanted, but it wasn't that bad.
I think there were, maybe, 15 dancers, and maybe 40 male customers or staff, and among all of us I'd guess maybe 4 white guys, 2 Hispanic guys, the rest African-American. Some of the girls were very light-skinned, or part-Hispanic, but still basically Afr-Am.
