I lived in San Diego from 1985 through 2001, but it's been over five years since I've been to Pacers; now Larry Flynt's Hustler Club. Outside everything looks pretty much the same except for the new sign. There is ample free parking and thankfully no mandatory valet, at least on Sunday night at 8:30 pm.

Inside the layout is basically unchanged, but the bar stools and rails that used to be around the two stages have been removed and replaced with comfortable cloth chairs. Everything has been modernized from the lighting to the stages and a private dance room has been added at one end, which makes the main area look smaller. At the opposite end there is a "smoking patio" where people can take a cigarette break without going outside. California law does not allow smoking in public places except in a separate designated area. Along one wall is a series of photographs telling the life story of Larry Flynt from the early days to present. This seemed a little bizarre for a strip club.

Overall the quality of the dancers seemed average for San Diego. I sat at the bar and ordered a (bar) scotch for $9 (prices have gone up). Soon a young black dancer (Sparkle) sat down to try to sell me a private show. She was the best-looking girl in the place with a great figure (no bimbo boobs or tattoos). She was a bit of a hustler though, hitting me up for $20 per dance. When I asked about the big sign on the wall that said "All Private Dances $15" she agreed to come down to $15. Since San Diego dances used to be mostly no contact I decided for the purpose of this review see if things have improved. The VIP area is private and no one else was around but she still initiated all the contact and wouldn't allow my hands to roam. It wasn't good enough to buy more than one dance but it was an improvement over five years ago. Of course ymmv.
