Not too long ago, my friends and I went to a strip club in the area which we had enjoyed on previous visits. Once we got there, we all agreed that, for whatever reason, it just wasn't happening that night. But everyone was still in the strip club mood so when somebody mentioned the Diamond Royale, we decided to check it out since none of us had ever been. It was a bit of a drive coming from Akron and needless to say, we ended up getting there sort of late.

The club is average-sized with an upstairs VIP area that no one in our party had the opportunity to visit. Most of the seats are on a level above the stage which can sometimes make it awkward to watch the featured dancer depending on where you're sitting. There is also an area in front of the stage with a decent number of tables. The mood of the club is pretty standard - somewhat dark with black lights and candles providing most of the illumination.

There were a few girls working, some of whom we recognized from other clubs we had been to. One thing that struck me is the variety of girls didn't seem to be as wide as I've seen elsewhere. I also noticed that a lot of the girls were...not overweight per se, just not as thin as a lot of dancers aspire to be. Now IMO, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. While a lot of guys may disagree, I feel that a girl who is a little filled out looks more natural. That's not to say that there weren't a fair number of slim girls too. It just seems that the ratio was slightly more even than what you might find at a lot of clubs.

Everyone on the staff seemed friendly which scores big points with me. We had several girls come over to our table to chat for a few minutes before propositioning us for a dance. Some never even asked. I find this to be far more effective than the assembly line hustle, moving from one guy to the next, stopping only to stuff some money into a g-string.

I've been back to the Diamond Royale since my initial visit and my impression was pretty much the same. I casn see myself paying more visits in the future. If you're looking for something different from the Akron scene, Diamond Royale is worth checking out.
