Another Nooner at the Orange

I haven't been to the Orange to see their power hour from 12pm to 1pm in quite some time. Not much has changed, and I mean that in a good way. Locals know No. 5 is in a seedy part of town so always be aware of your surroundings when visiting. Arrived around 11:45am to no cover and no security check, which is the norm at this time. Sat myself down and got my usual diet Coke when there in the morning. There were five dancers, all doing three song sets, where they get nude at song three. What makes power hour different is that there is only a five minute break between dancers, as opposed to the 30 minutes during the rest of the day. So they can rotate through ALL five dancers in around one hour, which is awesome if stopping by for quick lunch ... and surprisingly, their food service is not bad.

The five dancers working this week ranged from 6-8. Most of them do try to put on a good show, which can be difficult at noon and with a sparse crowd of mostly older regulars. By 'good show', I mean they perform, they dance, they don't just walk around the stage for nine minutes. The star of the line-up this week was a young, natural Latina with a great smile, she was definitely a crowd-pleaser. Some of the dancers leave right after their set and return in a few hours, and some will stick around and be available for private dances upstairs, which I do not partake in. In the end, I stayed for 1.5 hours, had my drink, and tipped each dancer $5, so the damage was light at around $40. I'll be back in a few months.
