Today is the first day for...

Today is the first day for the smoking ban in Arizona. I decided to check out Bandaids, since the industrial-strength smoke that usually fills its air would be gone. A fresh look, as it were.

The first thing that I noticed outside was a chained off area about ten feet from the front door. it was comical, but a bit tough to describe. Four sections of rebar, about 3 feet in height, marked the corners and a single strand of chain was stretched between them. In the "box" stood two dancers, puffing away in street clothes. What I immediately noticed is that these dancers, who might be considered sixes in the dim light of the bar, were fours, at best, in the harsh afternoon sun of Phoenix. I almost turned around, but decided to go in. That's a downside of the smoking ban that I hadn't considered. Dancers who smoke during day shift might want to consider whether they are "daylight ready", or their business could drop off.

Once inside, the bouncer took my ID and scanned it into a machine of some sort. That was a first for me, and rattled me but, again, I went ahead.
