Great reconnaissance on St. Paddy's day

I came in during St. Patrick's Day. The lot was about 75% full but there was plenty of room for more cars. I've never been there when I could not find a place to park in the lot. The lot's in back, where the entrance is, because you cannot enter from the street.

It was after 5 so I paid the $10 cover and got a pat down. I could have had a fifth of jack in my pocket and they wouldn't have found it. I'm not the profile you would expect for weapons, or jack for that matter, so I'm not surprised the pat down wasn't particularly thorough. At this point the whole club is in view and you can scope out the place. It usually takes a few minutes to assess the crowd and check out the entertainment. Depending on what you're looking for, a place to kill the time or a connection for dances, you need at least an hour to get the vibe. The bar is on the right hand side and gives you a full view of everything coming and going, from the dressing room to VIP, and the regulars sitting with their girls. There were plenty of girls sitting together, at least three tables, probably because they couldn't find someone to buy drinks. Some were snacking on the buffet before the night got serious. The girls were mixed, half white and half other, and a lot were chunky around the middle. I was in a good mood and bought a drink for the girl at the bar next to me. She was very chatty so I asked her about the Cubans who are very active in the Detroit-area clubs.

She said they come during the day shift and don't do much. In fact they take business from the club. I asked why because I thought they were very engaging and would be even more active if they knew the language. "These girls are all business" she said. They exchange digits and do their gig late at night after the clubs close, OTC, in their apartments and houses. I thought that was dangerous giving dudes your address but she added they have "sponsors" to take care of them. She added that she does fine and knows her clients so it doesn't affect her. I liked her confidence so I tipped her well before I left.
