“Unload” stress.
Stopped by PM on a Sunday evening shorty after shift change (6:30-7:00PM). If you’ve never been to PM, the club itself is located off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood, across from an apartment building on one side and a Cuban restaurant on the other. Ample street parking. There’s usually 1-2 guys who you tip a couple of dollars to for “watching”your car. Generally, the area feels safe but at night can be sketchy.
Once you go through the entrance, you go through an airport style metal detector and pat-down by security. It’s always a $10 cover charge regardless of time of day. Inside, the lower level is comprised of a large rectangular bar, 1-2 bartenders depending on the day and time of day. Patrons and dancers are seated on bar stools along the bar while others stand along the walls. PM gets crowded on any given night, especially the weekends. Drinks are decently priced with a “2 drink minimum”. Between alcohol sales, cover charge and house fees from the dancers, this club is raking in cash. On the second level, a few steps up is a little kitchen where you can order food, 2 pool tables, vending machine, a stage and a waiting area to get to the back rooms where all the fun is had. This is not the type of club where patrons are making it rain on stage.
On this evening, there were about 20-25 dancers, of all ages and sizes. Typically, dancers are Dominican, Ecuadorian, Colombian, Venezuelan and I highly recommend using your phone to help with translation. There’s no longer a charge to go into the back rooms. In the back, the menu is unlimited. The only thing they don’t do is a lap dance and prices range from $60-$100 for about 3 songs. In the back, are closet size rooms with a mirror, bench and no doors (replaced by curtains).
