Diamond Dolls (Wednesday Afternoon)

Wednesday afternoon at Diamond Dolls was a mixed bag. The place was surprisingly packed, with both bars full, but the new layout makes the club feel a lot smaller now that they’ve moved the DJ booth right next to the stage.

​There were plenty of dancers on the floor, but most of them were huddled in a corner together. As a gringo, it felt like I was invisible; I get the impression you have to have your money out on the table immediately just to get noticed.

​It’s clear there’s a massive "farm system" for talent here—easily 99% of the girls are from Cuba, and honestly, some of them are incredibly hot. However, the language barrier is a real thing. I was quoted anywhere from $125 to $330 for extras, but I passed. I know some people will give me shit for saying it, but it’s hard to get into the mood when the conversation doesn’t go past "Hola, want a dance?" I need a little bit of a connection to really enjoy the time.

​Still a fun spot if you just want to chill and look at some beautiful women, but don't expect much engagement if you aren't throwing cash or speaking the language.
