I recently swung by Ragtime in New Jersey, hoping to catch up with one of my favorites, Suzy, who I haven't seen in ages. Walking in, the place immediately hits you with that classic strip club vibe—dim, inviting lighting that sets a sultry mood without being too harsh on the eyes. The layout is straightforward: a main stage in the center with poles and spotlights, surrounded by comfy booths and high-top tables that give you a good view from anywhere. It's clean enough for a spot like this, with no sticky floors or weird smells, and the overall atmosphere feels nostalgic, like stepping back into the golden era of gentlemen's clubs. Music-wise, the DJ keeps things pumping with a mix of hip-hop, R&B, and throwback hits at a volume that's loud but not deafening, so you can still chat without yelling. Safety-wise, there's no thug factor here; the bouncers are visible but chill, and the crowd seems respectful, making it feel secure even late at night.

The dancers at Ragtime are a solid mix, with a good variety in body types, ethnicities, and styles— from curvy brunettes to athletic blondes, all putting on energetic shows. But man, my night was a bit of a bummer because Suzy wasn't there; she's got this incredible stage presence and way of making you feel like the only guy in the room, and I've been missing her routines that blend teasing dances with genuine charisma. The other girls were friendly and approachable, chatting up customers between sets without being pushy, which adds to the welcoming feel. Staff overall is top-notch: the bartenders are quick and know their drinks, the waitresses hustle without hovering, and even the bouncers crack a joke or two. The customer crowd is mostly middle-aged guys, a few couples, and some business types unwinding— no rowdy groups or sketchy vibes, just folks there to relax and enjoy.

Prices at Ragtime are pretty reasonable for a Jersey club, especially if you're comparing to flashier spots. Cover charge was $20 on a Friday night, which isn't bad, and drinks run about $8 for a beer, $12 for a mixed drink like a vodka soda— nothing outrageous. Lap dances start at $20 per song, and if you're going for VIP, it's around $150 for 15 minutes, which includes some privacy and a more intimate experience. I splurged on a couple dances to shake off the disappointment of missing Suzy, and they were worth it, with the girls being attentive and skilled without upselling too hard. Overall, you get good value here; no hidden fees or pressure to spend big, which makes it accessible for a quick visit.

If you're a business traveler with just one night in the area, Ragtime is definitely worth checking out— it's that reliable, no-frills classic club that delivers on the basics without any gimmicks. Sure, I left a little frustrated not seeing Suzy (hoping she's back soon!), but the consistent quality of the place keeps me coming back. The energy is fun and laid-back, the staff treats you right, and you won't break the bank. Just time it right if you have a favorite in mind, or go with an open attitude and enjoy whoever's on shift. It's not the trendiest spot, but for a genuine strip club experience, it's hard to beat.
