Making Friends Midweek at BDD

The days start to blend together... I was in Big D for a few days, so had to hit up my favorite watering hole. I don't drink, but I've always wanted to say that. I went both Monday and Tuesday afternoons, around 3p. I have learned, from numberous trips to BDD, that, IMO, the best mileage is during the day. At night, they open the behind-the-stage area for LDs but that area is now far too bright and wide open for my comfort. I always head upstairs to the "chair forts" that line the two side walls.

After the $5 wallet biopsy and $1 tip, I walk to the right and breathe in the action. I clook at the two stages next to the stage to my left and attempt to recognize the girls. Then I look to the right at the seating area where the lazy dancers sit around and play with their phones. Moving past them, I take a seat and observe the dancers on the main stage as well as the 4 other adjacent stages. I make mental notes if I want to time their stage exits and grab them for a dance. In the meantime, I wait for a waitress to provide me with my club soda. ($7.75?)

I take the long way around the bar to the pool hall side at the far end of the atrium, then wrap around to the balcony, along the way checking out who showed up for work that day. Sometimes I see a familiar face, and if I like that face, we go up the balcony together. If not, I make my way up, taking quick glances at the girls sitting in the highback chairs at the top of the stairs watching the action below, as well as the girls sitting at the long bar behind them perpendicular to the direction of the balcony stairs. This is always slightly awkward, as that bar seating is in the shadows, so they can see me much better than me seeing them. This leads to me finally getting to the top and being a only a few feet away from them before I can effectively gawk at them like a hungry tiger. I now usually act oblivious, make it up the stairs and order a drink at the end of the bar, THEN walk back around and surreptitiously inspect the talent of the day.
