My second choice that evening

I found myself in Dallas recently seeking some evening, adult entertainment. Not being familiar with the city, my research led me to Baby Dolls, which from what I could determine, was ranked at or near the top of its class in that area (I know this is not a review for Baby Dolls, bear with me). As I walked up to the entrance of Baby Dolls, prepared to pay a cover (nothing for parking, by the way), I was summarily rejected at the door by a young lady who told me that my shorts were unacceptable because they didn't have a zipper, or a button (they were gym shorts). Caught off guard I left with my tail between my legs, but my back up plan was to go to nearby Chica's Bonita's, a 10-minute drive.

As I pulled into the lot, a youngish Mexican fellow indicated there was a parking fee of $10. Now I was fully aware that other options existed, but since I was traveling with a rental and had valuables in the car (the area is a little sketchy), I paid it and walked in. As I proceeded in, there was an older Hispanic lady that had a virtual mini-mart in front of her, selling snacks, cigarettes, lighters and other junk as well as collecting a $17 cover charge, which I thought to be exorbitant based on my impression of the place. But I drove 30 minutes and paid it anyway.

My impression upon entry was that it was dumpy, with mis-matched chairs and tables, and definitely a lower end club (unlike Baby Dolls). But my experience has been not to judge a book by its cover, because fun can be had in places like this. I ordered a Corona for $9 and left a buck tip, so I'm already out $37 before I sat down.
