The quiet night after Halloween
Maybe it was the post-Halloween sugar crash but Angels was dead on that Saturday night. Other nights feature more dancers and I guessed that they were all worn out from the night before. The parking lot had about eight cars or trucks so I didn’t expect a crowd. It's a regular place I stop in, and decided that night to spend a few minutes on my way home.
The place hasn’t changed its layout over the past several years. Enter, pass by a mild-mannered security guy, stage to the right, bar straight ahead. The lottery machines to the left were installed maybe a year ago, which probably help keep the place going. The stage has a counter at a nice height that allows dancers to sit close or slide down into your lap. To the side is a wall with high tables. There is an inset area with a few table and private dance areas curtained off.
I arrived about 9:30 and there were a half dozen dancers talking to OPs or other dancers, with nobody on stage. Three-quarters were Latinas and had chosen music they liked. I bought a soda ($3) and sat at a table waiting to tip someone. A slender, pretty dancer started and I moved to the counter for her two songs, then came a Latina with better eye contact and a grind, which earned her a larger tip.
