The Stepford Strip Club

I was nearby, I figured I was prepared for the idea that this isn't a good area for clubs, and wanted to check out the Poodle anyway.

The club itself is odd, to me. Every piece of furniture is aimed at the stage, but at the same time, there's something about the dancers' attitudes while onstage that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I sat at the rail for quite a few dancers, and none of them made eye contact. Some of them worked really hard on their pole moves, but talking and dancing at the same time almost seemed like it was not allowed or something. I don't think I've ever felt so disconnected from dancers at the tip rail. Maybe the music was too loud?

I had a couple of brief conversations (not at the tip rail) with dancers, and learned that it's really all about the private dances. I'll skip ahead and describe the private room: quite small, with a continuous run of padded benches in a U-shape, where the sides that face each other are close enough that you would likely make contact with another customer's feet if you were sitting directly across from them. The light only comes from one corner, so one side has front-lighting on the girls, and the other side you'd only get a silhouette view as they'd be backlit.
