A visit to Hoops, in two parts.

Two parter. I was in NYC a month or so ago for work. After some drinks I’d wandered the area near the Garden looking for something to do. This place is literally next to Rick’s. Visit was broken up into two halves of the night.

Club overview is that it’s a narrow space (like Rick’s). Bar as you walk in, tiny little stage in the back a few feet off the ground. Place feels a little cramped (especially if you’re used to larger spaces with a tip rail).

Part 1 was a little earlier in the night. Stopped in, paid my $20 cover and got a free drink (which was cool). I dunno if they overbooked, but the place was literally wall to wall girls. All of whom were constantly pushing. Honestly, I got a little claustrophobic. Did get chatted up by a gorgeous AA hottie with a nice chat, but the place was so crowded it wasn’t super comfortable. Ended up bailing out early without a dance.
