Power Hour Shower Surprise
Whenever I'm working in Vancouver, I try to make it to the No 5 Orange for their Power Hour - weekdays from 12 pm to 1 pm, there is a steady rotation of dancers on the main stage, one after the other. It's a great way to spend your lunch break, even if I never actually end up eating any lunch. I've been here enough times now that when I went in last Friday, I thought I knew what to expect - starting at 12 noon, dancers would come out one at a time from the backstage area, do two or three enthusiastic dances, and exit up the stairs at the end of their show. I like to sit at the stage and tip 5$ a dance - usually when you tip, the dancers show their appreciation with a little extra attention in your direction.
This visit I discovered that No 5 still has a few surprises. After two or three dancers had finished, down from the stairs comes a curvy redhead wearing only a thick bath towel that just barely covered her hips. After a stroll around the edge of the stage so we could all get a peek under the towel, she walked to the far side of the stage where there's a small circular area set apart from the rest of the platform. She dropped the towel to the side, climbed inside the circle, and suddenly water is pouring down on her from above. She proceeds to take a leisurely shower, repeatedly applying soap and lotion and then rinsing off. Once she was soaking wet, she started moving around the stage, dripping all over the platform and spraying into the crowd with every toss of her hair. She'd pick up the bills scattered across the stage and stick them to her wet body, and then hop back into the shower for another rinse. When she was finished her dances, she took her time drying off the stage with her towel, before wrapping herself back up in the terrycloth and disappearing up the stairs again. The rest of the power hour was the usual lovely dancing, but that shower made quite an impression.
All in all, the power hour is well worth a visit any day, but the shower dances made it especially memorable. One of these days I'm going to make time to come back for some private dances here, but the stage show is worth a visit all on its own.
