Pricey evening, considering.
I went to Flight Club in Detroit last Saturday, and while the place was definitely packed and had a lively atmosphere, it felt more like a high-end hustle than a laid-back night out. The dancers were attractive and professional, but it was clear that this is one of those "extras" clubs where everything beyond the stage costs a premium—and they don’t hide it. I talked to several dancers who quoted me $$$ for a dance, and I had to specify "just a dance" to get anywhere near rack rate. I guess if you cough up $40 just to sit in a booth, they figure you've got $1000+ you want to spend that night. As is, I parted with less than half that, but had a good steak as part of the deal. It's a meat market, right? Drinks were decent but overpriced, and the VIP experience, while no doubt comfortable, quickly adds up if you're not careful. Heck, everything adds up, and fast.
Compared to Leopard’s Lounge over in Windsor, where the vibe is more relaxed and you get a lot more for your money (and exchange rate), Flight Club felt flashy but expensive without necessarily offering more substance if you're not looking for UHM. It was still a good time, just not somewhere I’d go often unless I was ready to spend big. $30 for some watery Cokes just kind of pisses me off, y'know?
