Great first experience
I had a few hours to kill before a red eye flight, so I decided to check out Bourbon St after seeing comments online that it's a high-class place. It's basically true - the place is clean, has a friendly atmosphere, and isn't ugly looking (although it still has that laser tag aesthetic that seems inescapable). You get that moody blue and purple lighting, ok/inoffensive music, and circular arrangement so that everyone can observe the stage. There's only one stage with one girl at a time, while the others will walk around and chat you up. I sat down with a drink close to the stage (pretty nice guy tending bar btw) to watch the performer, but I also looked around at the patrons/anyone else around. I didn't overtly notice security, but it did feel safe and not sketchy. 100% male customers during my visit, ranging from ~30 to ~60. I believe I was the youngest person not working there. Some fratty guys got occasionally loud but not enough to be a concern.
Since the place serves alcohol, AZ law dictates that the club is topless only, which is fine by me. What was a bit disappointing is that in the ~2 hrs. I sat there, the dancing was not all that engaging and didn't involve much actual stripping. The girl would come out already in underwear and then remove the bra near the end of the song (in some cases not even removing it). There was no crowd interaction and no throwing bills. The girls are basically all model quality - professional hair/makeup, highly fit - and many had obvious enhancements. They ranged from looking college aged to mid 30s, and were mostly white, with a couple being black and Latina. I think there were about ten working, maybe as many as twelve. No one was pushy, as I preferred to wait a while before getting a dance. One frustrating element is that there were only ever two or so girls walking around at a time - the rest were backstage or doing dances. It wasn't crazy busy, but there may have been regulars or something who were monopolizing attention from some of them. One dancer in particular whom I wanted to talk to disappeared and I did not find her again. I went to get another drink and then a girl came to sit with me. I offered to buy her a drink but they are not allowed to accept.
The drinks were about $12 each and there was a $20 cover that night, although I'm not sure about that always being the case. Anyway, I realized that I didn't have cash (so stupid) and obviously you cannot pay for a dance with a card, but the girl realized I was inexperienced and explained that they take Venmo and Cashapp these days. Phew. I'm talking to her for a bit, she's telling me about her experience working there (positive), her travels, funny stories, etc. and it feels very platonic and friendly, not as sexually forward as I'd expect. No dirty talk at all. She's actually dressed up a bit more, wearing stockings, a skirt, and a bustier. She had straight blonde hair and green eyes, pale skin, and huge breasts. She said she was late 30s but looked no more than 30 at most. $20 per song length for a private dance. I think a song is like 4 minutes on average here, but I got a bit extra since she gave me the rest of the song that was playing when she started for free. Maybe she liked my cologne, idk. I'm very polite and respectful by nature, so it was a little strange to have someone I'd been having a very friendly chat with a moment ago undressing.
