Probably my Last Visit

In my 20s, I couldn't imagine a club more fun than Diamond Lodge. Thanks to its position near a handful of college campuses, the club always punched way above its weight in terms of dancer looks. Since Diamond Lodge was a strictly no touching club, it relied on its neighborhood bar feel (decent food menu) and an impressive rotation of monthly porn star feature dancers to get people in the door. The feature dances have long-since disappeared, but since I was in Kent for the day I opted to drop in for the first time in several years before heading home.

The club is located in rural Portage County about 20 miles beyond Streetsboro on OH-14. The building itself is quite impressive with a large main stage, 20-seat bar area, plenty of floor seating, and a few pool tables. Friday night cover was $10 and domestic macrobrews were in the $5-8 range for a bottle. Club still had an extensive menu, but I chose to not partake.

$25 dances are done in an open room behind the bar with a handful of couches and are monitored by a bouncer at all times. As the club has the strict "touch and go" policy, I don't always plan to partake. On this night, it was pretty clear that I wouldn't. In the past, you could expect a relatively even split between attractive coeds who were engaging and local girls who were less attractive and more interested in spending time with local regulars. On this night, the college girls were nowhere to be found. The most conventionally attractive girl was a 6 at best with heavy body modifications (tattoos, piercings, extreme makeup), most of the rest were in the 3-5 range. I finished my beer, called the night lost, and headed home.
