Is The Block on an upswing?

I got to make an early afternoon trip up to The Block about a month ago. Haven’t been in ages but thought it would be a nice change of pace & I was right. It could have been this day or a trend but The Block felt less dirty on the outside. Could have also been the continued slow death The Block seems to have been going through over the past few decades. Seems like every time I infrequently go there is another club or two that have closed their doors permanently. Fabulous good time places that are now another business. Make no mistake, The Block continues to shrink.

On to Chez Joey’s…

Typical Block layout, long bar on the left that takes up most of depth of the building with a stage behind it. Barstools in the middle with only enough room for a couple of two chair high top tables to the right. Certainly dark but everything was clean, music was on, and the bartender was cool. The girls were, on this visit and probably most of the time based on other reviews, exclusively AA. The club employees were all AA as well. If this is something that intimidates you, go look elsewhere. As a middle aged white guy, this didn’t bother me one bit and it didn’t bother anyone else there that was working there. Green cash is green cash. Miller Lite was $6 I believe.
