Rick’s is still the same old Rick’s

I visited Rick’s on a Wednesday night around 9:30, just after dinner. No cover, and the place looked about like I remembered. Clean, stylish, and still trying to be upscale and sexy. Not a dive, not a steakhouse.

You walk in past the long bar on your left, and the room opens up into a decent-sized floor with cocktail tables, padded armchairs, and a stage coming from the left to the middle. For a midweek night, it looked ready for a crowd that just hadn’t shown up yet. Plenty of staff.

However, the room was dead. Two solo guys and a group of four in business casual. I ordered a scotch, but paid with a $100 and never got change, so I have no idea what it cost. I picked a seat with a clear view of the stage. One dancer approached quickly, but I waved her off to settle in.
