Slow Friday night at Syn
As soon as you turn off Northside Drive at Green Street, parking is on the right and the club is on the left. Arrived on Friday night around 11pm. Area seems safe. Parking attendant said there was no fee, but that tips were welcome, so I gave him $5. A dancer arrived just after I did, and she asked the attendant how many of the cars were customers. As it turned out, there were about 15 customers and around the same number of dancers.
Quick pat down outside the door, nobody collecting an entry fee. This was my first visit. I sat at the bar on the right and got a beer ($7). I soon noticed that there was more interactions between dancers and customers at the other bar (which is at the back of the main room). I got a tour of the place: the smaller lounge behind the bar was empty, and the VIP rooms also appeared to be vacant.
Maybe 2-3 other customers tipped dancers on the stage during the two hours I was there, and it didn't seem to get any more crowded. Nobody "making it rain". Most of the customers were white. Most of the white dancers were full figured. The AA dancers were slender. Only a couple waitresses, and I wasn't hustled to buy drinks at the chairs around the stage or at the couches along the walls. Spent my time and money with a super friendly ebony spinner who introduced herself as Harris. $20 per dance with good contact, and she kept an honest song count. Would definitely see her again. She said she used to work at Cheetah, and that she liked the slower pace at Syn. I tend to agree. It's a great looking space, and I hope they can stay in business.
