Consistently disappointing

I decided to check Gallagher's out again after seeing some positive recent reviews, and while I’m sure those experiences were genuine, I genuinely had a terrible time there.

I tried to set myself up for success as much as possible. I went on a Friday night, after 10pm. The idea was that I would stay for a few hours and try to get a feeling for how the night develops. I didn’t last 20 minutes.

There is a $15 cover on Fridays and Saturdays. It may be free though if you come in during the afternoon on those days. Drinks are a bit cheaper than your average strip club, but I'd recommend sticking to bottled beer. I've had watered down drinks there before. This visit they served me a flat and tepid soda for $5.

Now, Gallaghers has not been “popping” in about a decade, so I wasn’t expecting it to be crowded but I was genuinely surprised at how dead the club felt on a Friday night. I walked in to see the dancers mostly sitting and looking at their phones. There were a handful of middle-aged PLs sitting alone around the bar, and two girls with fugly BBLs giving lifeless pole dances on stage.

The lapdances are a good value in terms of price. You’ll either pay $100 for 15 minutes in the upper curtained rooms, or $200 for 30 minutes in the rooms on the lower level that are a little more private. You can legit have a fantastic time (and get extras) if you get the right girl but Gallaghers has some of the least attractive dancers I’ve seen in New York City. It’s a mix of old looking Latinas, old-looking Eastern Europeans, and girls who have had bad plastic surgery. I’d cast them in a movie about an alcoholic hitting rock-bottom. There might have been one single attractive dancer, a short latina with big natural boobs, but the smart money is she’ll realize she could do better at one of the many other clubs.
