Passing thru in search of the rare gem
I made a stop at Silver Cricket on a Friday evening while returning from the airport. As I entered the parking lot around 6:30, I was taken aback by the lively atmosphere; the lot was nearly half full. The club was alive with energy, with every bar stool on the right side occupied and all the booths along the back wall filled to capacity. Even the tables positioned near the stage were bustling with patrons, creating a vibrant scene that suggested a popular night ahead. Initially, it was standing room only, but after about ten minutes, I managed to secure a table close to the bathroom, which provided a decent vantage point for people-watching.
Once I settled in, I found myself waiting for a waitress to take my order while I took in the diverse crowd around me. Women of various sizes and backgrounds filled the space, including a mix of white and African American women. However, I struggled to remember the names of the heavier set women, as they didn’t fit my usual preferences. I engaged in light conversations with some of the younger ladies nearby, but nothing particularly piqued my interest. I noticed a familiar face among the dancers, someone I had already taken back multiple times, which made me hesitant to return to VIP with her.
Realizing that my evening wasn’t shaping up as I had hoped, I decided to cut my losses. I ordered a beer, which cost $7.00, and left a $3.00 tip for the waitress. Additionally, I set aside $4.00 as a tip for the dancer, acknowledging her performance even if I wasn’t inclined to pursue anything further. With that, I wrapped up my night and headed out, reflecting on the experience as I made my way home.
