Promising Potential

Once one retires, it is a bit harder to be a daytime monger...evenings and nights even more challenging. But, on occasion, I find myself out and about for a lunch with a friend or group. Such was the case yesterday where I found myself done with my lunch before 1pm and less than 10 minutes away from Synsations Atlanta.

I had read other reviews and had a general idea of the location of the building and the likely parking situation. Just the same, I drove around the block to refamiliarize myself and noticed, a new to me, housing/condo development, literally almost touching the Synsations building. Something strange there based on general zoning requirements, but I digress. As has been mentioned, there is no visible signage on or in front of the building just the address 1400 Northside Dr. There is some limited street parking in the general area but the lot across the little street is where most people are parking. Use the ramp to the left so that your back is facing Northside as you approach the entry door. For those that recall, this is the old location of the Diamond Club and the lot use to serve a fairly decent Mexican restaurant. There was no valet in place on this visit but the door guy charged $10 to park anyways. He also did the light pat down of pockets. No cover charge.

I was a little concerned that I was too early getting there a little after 1pm, but the music was already playing, accompanied by two workers with drills installing foot rails at the base of one of the bars. Neither bar was staffed yet, so a quick trip to the restroom was in order. The bathroom, like the rest of the club, was very nice and appeared to have new fixtures, flooring etc. There wasn't an attendant in there but it was very clean and stocked with little candies, mints etc. I recognized one of the former managers from the old Follies days, and later Onyx, and he gave me a quick tour. By then, one of the bars was open. My fancy glass bottle of water was $8... I think, I forgot to count my change.
