Onyx Running on Fumes

I want to like Onyx - really. And for it to succeed! But like Allure before it (and I hope NOT Syn after it), they keep dropping the ball on what matters, while sticking with stuff that doesn't. At least for older and spendy day-guys like me who visit clubs often.

Basics: The club is hard to miss - a black building with huge letters facing the road. There's ample parking on a large, reasonably smooth concrete lot, split by a wrought iron fence. The club has been fussing with rates. Self-parking was $5, then free, and now $10 (I think), but I have a VIP card for free parking/entry (Also $10 - But nobody at the desk the last couple times. So dunno).

After a medium frisk, you enter and turn left through large, leather-clad double doors into a single gigantic rectangular room with a high ceiling. Bar 1 to the right with dilapidated leather high-back stools (Seriously, you'll sink in 6 inches, feeling like you'll fall through). Rectangular stage down the middle, flanked by couches near the stage, aisles down either side, and then raised U-shaped couch seating semi-shielded by smoked glass panels. Bar 2 at the back, behind which is a total-wall TV, typically showing sports. ATMs, closed-door VIP, and clean/staffed bathroom down an adjoined back area. Overall, semi-glitzy, like a mid-range Vegas club.
