Satin Dolls is one of the more elaborately designed clubs in the area. It has the high ceilinged, glitzy look and feel of a Studio 54 with friendly, but just a little stiff service you get at these "Gentlemen's Clubs." I stopped on a rainy/snowy Thursday around 6:30 PM. The club is located on the south-bound lane of Route 17 just south of the Harem. Between the weather and the hour, traffic was predictably nightmarish and the club’s parking lot is laughably organized. But despite the weather, Satin Dolls was quite busy. The large main room is dominated by a very large, rectangular bar surrounding a very big stage. Get the picture--big is good at Satin Dolls. My problem with this approach is the girls look so far away. Even the dollar parade (yes, like other reviewers mention, it is relentless) requires a bit of reach between customer and dancer. The dancers as a group were all great looking with a few demonstrating good pole work and most just casually dancing around.

The lap dance area is an open collection of reasonably comfortable chairs discreetly located in one corner, no partitions or curtains here (in fairness, Centerfolds and the Harem are the same). Lap dances are $20 per song as usual and the girls are not shy about inviting customers for a dance, but neither did I find them pushy. My first dance had mild contact sitting in the middle of the LD area. For the second, Ginger led me to a corner seat behind a strategically placed potted plant and, while within the spirit of the law, performed an incredibly sensual dance, well worth a second song and good tip. No one mentioned any VIP room service and I did not ask. I have no information on its costs or availability.

Finally, a word about the ratings. I wish I could revisit some of my previous reviews to reflect the difference between the "Gentlemen's Club" style and "Go-Go- Bar" approach. There are good and bad clubs within both groups but comparing them is an apples and oranges contrast. Satin Dolls clearly belongs to the former group and my rating is intended to compare similar venues.
