I made a stop after about...
I made a stop after about 7 or 8 months. The new owners have made a few changes to the Northern. I arrived about 6:30 and got in without a cover charge, they don't charge from 5-7. Happy hour lasts until 7 and beer was $2.50. They have added some special nights. This was Toga Night, the waitresses were wearing togas that exposed a lot of skin. Unfortunately, there were only 2 waitresses working so service was slow.
They have done some updating to the decor. It was hard to tell everything they had done because it was so dark. They did buy some new furniture. The stools at the tall tables now have backs and are much more comfortable than the old round stools. They are probably much better for table dances, but I can't say for sure because I did not get a table dance.
Another change was swapping the couch dance area with the VIP area. The last time I was in they had started a VIP area but I did not try it out. Now that they have switched rooms, the VIP area is larger than the couch room. Minimum prices for couch dances are $5 to the house and $20 to the dancer. Minimum price for the VIP area is $25 to the house and $100 to the dancer. For that you get 4 songs. I was told that dancers can have their own prices above these numbers and know that some of the dancers have $20 & $30 dances. The more expensive dancers are supposed to be a little closer, but not much happens in this club so it isn't a big deal. The new couch dance area is closed to the rest of the bar, but very little division. You can see the other guys getting dances. Basically they have 6 padded benches with dividers between them. They did have plenty of light in the couch area. I did not try the VIP area. Because of the normal no touch policy I doubt that much extra happens in this area, but I can't really confirm this either way since I didn't experience it.
