Scammed at Hoops…

So the only time I posted a negative review of a club in the past it didn’t get approved for some reason but here we go….

It was about 2:30am on a Friday and I am a usual fan of Ricks and that was my actual destination but for some reason my buddy looked “too drunk” and wasn’t let in…(he only had about four drinks that night but had gotten up at 5a before I dragged him out for the night). I didn’t want to argue and as we walked away I was beckoned over to Hoops which, somehow, I have never been in. Paid $20 to enter …

I would describe the layout as cozy. Small bar on the left with 7-8 girls seated at small high tops on your right. Dance floor area was small but not cramped. I was honestly just going to have a few drinks, tip at the stage, and call it a night. On the main floor there were about 20 girls and it was busy enough but not crowded. I love a good club massage and the massage girl was cute enough. She quoted me $100 for 10 minutes so I paid for two rounds. Got a pretty good shoulder rub and then she moved on to my friend…

That’s when I was approached by a tall blonde (brunette roots) Eastern European dancer in a light blue set. She was fairly attractive and gave a cute smile. Looked like a blonde Gal Gadot but not as thin. She pitched me the standard “wanna dance”? I told her no that I was just closing the night out with a few drinks. She was persistent and cute enough so went across the room for a $20 floor dance. She sat in my lap and announced: “I don’t do only one dance.” I was a little surprised but not shocked as I’ve been around. To humor get I asked what she proposed. She launched into a long list which ended in $2000 for an h in the VIP. It’s NYC but I almost spit out my drink. I told her I was leaving soon and we settled on $60 for 3 on the floor. She held out her hand in a bratty manner and I handed her (foolishly) the cash. She then proceeded to repeatedly ask me to go to the VIP and pouted without dancing. Somewhere around the second song she turned and said we are done where is my tip? I thought she was joking! At this point I knew I had been scammed and tried to leave but she wouldn’t get up. I told her politely no tip and pointed out the fact that she hadn’t even danced. She turned and pretended to wave to the bouncer but I stood fast. Finally she got up and walked away. Didn’t get her name because she didn’t even introduce herself. Was focused on the scam and upsell.

I am not a real complainer so we left after the interaction. The doorman who had convinced us to come in asked “how was your night” and I told him what had happened. He called the manager out who said he was going to get my $60 back from the girl but I told him I didn’t want to make a scene. He gave me a few free passes instead.
