Back in Business

I was in St. Louis this past weekend and I found out that one of my favorite clubs from the past was having a grand re-opening on Friday 1/17. The Pink Slip has been closed since 2018. Initially, the closure was supposed to be temporary, but it dragged on much longer than expected. After a couple of years, I gave up hope of it ever re-opening, but to my surprise I saw an ig post promoting the club. I got there at about 11:30 on Friday. They were charging $20 to park in the lot on the side of the club. There were a couple of security guards outside of the club patting people down before letting them in. After the pat down I stepped inside and paid the $10 cover to a lady sitting behind the glass.

The layout of the club was pretty much the same as I remember. When you enter the long main bar is still there when you turn to the right, however they didn’t have stools set up at the bar as they did in the past. I went to the bar and ordered a D'usse which was $13. The main stage is out in front of the main bar with a few tables and chairs set up on the floor facing the stage. I walked around to the back bar and that is the same as well with the exception of the stools being available at the bar. The kitchen is still there, and folks were ordering wings just like in the old days.

I came back up front to the main area and got a seat at one of the tables facing the main stage. A couple of dancers were on the main stage dancing. I saw maybe 15 dancers out on the floor, most were Black, but to my surprise I did see one Asian dancer. There was a good mix of thin and thick with a few bbl’s mixed in. I tipped a couple of the girls on stage and one stopped by my table to give a quick dance for some singles. I noticed more dancers steadily arriving.

Unfortunately, the things came to an abrupt end because a little after 1am a few police officers came in the club and announced that everyone had to leave the club immediately. This was a surprise, to me as things were starting to pick up, but I found out later from one of the dancers that it may have been an issue with a liquor license. Hopefully they get the issues straightened out. It looks like they are going to try to have the re-launch again this weekend according to their IG ( https://www.instagram.com/thenewpinkslip/ ). I hope to visit next time I’m in town.
