Just Felt Mediocre On This Night

I checked out the Brass Rail on what I figured would be one of the last weekends before everything more or less shuts down for the holidays. The Leafs were playing on the road so that limited the likelihood of a peak night (as an fyi - when the Leafs are playing at home on a Sat. night, that has traditionally meant a better night for the Rail in terms of dancers and vibe).

I arrived a little after midnight and was waved in with thankfully no lineup. There was no cover. I grabbed a $12.25+tip domestic beer which as always was ice cold. Grabbed a seat at the bar and surveyed the scene.

Honestly, as other reviewers have noted, the overall feeling here is dated. I noticed mostly older (i.e. over 28 years of age) dancers and they all seemed to sport the typical lingerie look. There just weren't enough of the young, exciting twerk babes you see in the American clubs. No girl was doing anything special with her outfit. The vibe was just...safe and kinda stale. Even the music wasn't really memorable. A couple of hip hop songs were played but they seemed to intentionally keep the volume low. It's just hard to get that upbeat "Saturday night" feeling when the music is a 5/10 volume and the girls are just okay.
