I arrived at the Chicago Rick's just before 10:00 p.m. on a Friday. There was a $20.00 cover to get in. No line when I got there, but there was a lengthy red carpet to get up to the door, and it was full when I was leaving, later.

Rick's is located on this interesting side-street/alley that is behind a Whole Foods. It feels semi-residential in the area (please forgive this non-native if I'm butchering the description), but yet secluded. I felt safe the whole time, both in the club and outside of the club.

I paid my $20.00 and walked in to find a packed venue. A couple of bouncer-esque dudes welcomed me (in a very nice a polite way, I must say), and offered to help me find a seat and a girl. They were nice guys, but I was worried I'd get a shake down for a tip, or to be forced to buy a bottle or something, so I politely deiced and said I was going to the bar and would test my luck on the floor. The bouncer-esque dudes were cool with that.
