Beautiful empty club

I was coming back from an appointment in Fort Lauderdale and decided to head towards my favorite spots in Pompano. I saw a Billboard for Solid Gold so I figured I would give it a shot. I have some of my best memories from the Solid Gold clubs in Fort Lauderdale and North Miami, so I figured I would give it a shot.

It’s a little out of the way off of Atlantic, and if you don’t put it in GPS, you may have a little problem finding the place. Once you do you can’t help but notice how big it is. It is also very impressive from the outside. Reminds me of the clubs of old. It was just after 7pm and the parking lot had a lot of spots. I parked in the back. I reached into my pocket as I approached the door and was pleasantly surprised when he didn’t ask me for a nominal fee to park. I was also happy to see that they just waived me in and asked me to have a good time. No entry fee was required. Once I got inside I could help but be impressed with how big, clean, and beautiful the club is. There are bars on the right and the left, a long narrow stage right in the middle with chairs around it, and lounge seating behind that. The place is impressive, but the good impression ends there.

The place was relatively empty. Only the right bar was open, and there was only one girl dancing on the right side of the stage. The stage is so long that it looked awkward just having just one dancer up there. There was only 1 patron sitting by the stage, and nobody in the lounge area. The bar to the right was packed. There were about 12-15 customers, and girls around each one. The girls were all dressed up in beautiful gowns, which made the place feel more high end than the other Pompano clubs. There were about 4-5 serious lookers at the bar, and the rest of the girls were average at best. Someone had just gotten up at bar so I luckily was able to get a seat. I normally order just a water, but I felt the urge to get a Tito’s drink as well. The 2 came to $22 and I gave a $5 tip to the bartender.

Here is my assessment of the rest of my visit. There were a few guys eating steak at the bar with dancers they obviously knew. Seems like they may be regulars. The steak really looked delicious, and I was tempted to order one but I wasn’t sure I would be there long enough. I sat at the bar with my drink for 30 minutes and got approached by one of the so-so dancers asking if I wanted company. I told her I just got there and wanted to adjust to the place before spending time with someone. She had no problem with my answer and walked away. I tried to get the attention of the few girls I thought were my type, but they seemed attached to their regulars and nobody budged. Although the bar was packed, none of the girls were walking around it like you find at the other clubs. It really was difficult to meet anyone, or get anyone’s attention. In the half hour I was there I did not get a dance, and I did not even get approached by anyone other then the initial girl. It looks like they have a VIP area in the back of the club but I can’t be sure as nobody explained anything to me. I truly felt lost, and ignored, which is the last thing you want to feel at one of these clubs. I’m a decent looking guy, in my opinion, so I don’t think it was because I repulsed anyone. I just think that this place doesn’t get that busy, and the girls cling on to the regulars as they know where their bread is buttered.

The place is beautiful, and I think it has tremendous potential. Maybe I went at a bad time, and I will wait to get comments to see if that’s the case. I spent only $27 total, which is at least $100 less then I had ever spent at a club before. I went on their website after I got home to see if I missed something and it appears they have an entire VIP area, lounge, restaurant, and outdoor space that I certainly did not see when I was there, and I was never even directed to anything like that.
